Meeting Started: 7.25pm
Members Present: 12
Guests Present: 0
Apologies Received: Matt & Malcolm
Treasurers Report: Bill reported a balance of £X
Local Membership Secretary Report: 0
National/International Membership Secretary Reports: Neil reported membership increase of +2
Matters Arising:
Merchandise Update: Rob reported that in 2 weeks of the OSC Ebay shop, there were 7 sales & 4 enquiries for merchandise he says that this is moving nicely so far.
Website Update: Matt was unavailable to update the meeting as was absent.
Kids Christmas Party: Buffet confirmed, price to be confirmed when we have final numbers of attendees. We have invited a pottery painter, called Mad Potter, along who will sit with the kids & let them paint pots, cups etc, they can then buy the finished item at a nominal fee as presents for their relatives. This has cost us nothing to have Mad Potter in but is an idea we are trialling for future reference. Letter has been sent to playing & office staff, Crown & Oaklea inviting kids along. Email sent to Frazer the Eagle to attend but we may need a volunteer to wear the costume if needed. There will be a bucket collection at the home match against Chesterfield to boost funds. Coxy volunteered to do the disco & we still need to get hold of a Father Christmas, volunteers requested.
Adults Christmas Party: Sarah is providing the questions & will do a question of Stanley with a roll up prize fund going up in £5’s. Pie & peas supper hasn’t yet been confirmed but Rob is working on it. Rob is buying scratch cards & providing spot the ball sheets.
Both Christmas Partys were announced over the tannoy during the Rochdale match.
Observer Competition: Neil said that the competition was put in the Observer Friday before last [approx 25th Nov], 1 local guy won 2 Stanley match tickets & hospitality, Neil to follow up on the winner.
Exhibition Update: Rob was not able to follow up on the date of the 19th Jan 08 for possible launch event held at the Sportsbar as Lew left the club shortly after & the club was awaiting a new appointee for Lew’s position at the time, but he will follow that up with the new commercial manager as soon as is practical to get a confirmation. Mel updated her progress, she had got a response from Darren Woodhead but had unfortunately declined her invitation to the Steering group meeting [26th Nov 07] as he would be too busy with his own work to get that involved with the exhibition, but he has gladly offered his assistance with his own stories, photo’s & film footage to loan for the exhibition. Mel has had a few more stories come in & continually collating contacts & stories, should they arrive. There was a few of us from the steering group that produced & distributed leaflets about the exhibition & request for volunteers, which were successfully given to all home support during the Rochdale match at home [5th Dec 07]. We are awaiting responses from the leaflet drop & hope that we have a few volunteers come along to the exhibition meeting, 7th Jan 08. Rob had a word with the tannoy man to announce the leaflets over the tannoy before & at half time, which he did announce it, to ensure the word was spread about the exhibition. Dan Jewell, Stanley commentator for 2br, has advised we email or speak to Ricky about promoting exhibition on 2br & best to get someone willing to be spokesperson about the exhibition for interview. Exhibition is going to be based at Accrington Library between July-Aug 08. Gayle has purchased some recording equipment for recording oral histories & announced that there is a logo competition being held on Accyweb forum which ends on the 16th December 07 & to be decided by steering group on the 17th December 07, whose design we use for exhibition logo for stationary etc & the winner receives £50 to spend in club shop. Updates ongoing for the exhibition for next meeting.
Any Other Business:
Granada TV are doing a 6 part documentary on Accrington Stanley, they have contacted Rob in view of filming an OSC meeting as part of this documentary. Idea is to put a fans forum on & open it up for more people to come along to this meeting, as no objections were particularly raised at this point, Rob will update us more & any further discussion about this for next meeting.
Sarah is standing down as Vice-Chairman, due to family commitments taking more of her time & feels she can’t put as much time into the position as before so has come to her decision to stand down. We need volunteers for the post & will take a vote on whom becomes the next vice-chair at the next meeting.
Next Meeting: Monday 14th January 2008 @ 7.15pm, Sportsbar.
Meeting Closed: 7.50pm |
