Minutes of the meeting held March 10th 2008
Meeting Started: 7.27pm
Members Present: 9
Apologies Received: Matt, Malcolm & Derek
Treasurers Report: Bill reported a balance of £X
Local Membership Secretary Report: Lesley reported 0 new memberships
National/International Membership Secretary Report: Neil reported 0 new memberships.
Matters Arising:
Merchandise Update: Rob reported sales of around £X since the last meeting, total sales of around £X since we started with ebay. Most popular item seems to be the badges, with that in mind we need to look at producing more badges at appropriate times – The Exhibition being one. Listing ASFC product on our ebay shop was refused by the club as they wish to keep their stock on their own site.
Website Update: No available update at meeting, Matt absent. Though motion was passed for Neil B to take & put photo’s on website was agreed to put an encryption on it for copyright.
Exhibition Update: Two books have been sanctioned by the steering group, one to be produced by Phil Whalley, which will be a hard copy version of the CD that we will be producing. Exact details yet to be confirmed but it would appear that the OSC would acquire the book & the rights to sell it. The other book sanctioned will be a limited edition re-print of the 1954-55 season yearbook. This is being undertaken by Hyndburn Press & is expected to be available by the 5th of April 2008, priced around £X. Mel updated her progress, she has managed to get the recordings successfully onto PC & CD, from the recordings taken by her & volunteers, which sounded good but they are still in non-edited mode at the moment. Gayle has organised school trips to the club with an art workshop, volunteers required for Thursday March 27th from 9am -3pm.
Poker Night: Pete was not in attendance to discuss but was noted it was a success with profit to the OSC of £X.
End of Season Presentation Night: As agreed last month Neil will undertake the bulk of organising for the event but could still do with offers of assistance. The event is to be held on the 3rd of May 2008, after the Bury match, which we decided to call it ‘Coley-oke’. Raffle & games needs volunteers, Rob will sort the awards out. We need all to help with the distribution of leaflets before hand, the Barnet game on the 19th of April would be an ideal opportunity to put a 1000 leaflets out, letting people know a fortnight in advance, leaflets need to get going ASAP. We should also put a notice up in the toilets, around the ground & send a letter to the club explicitly inviting all staff. We need a commitment from the club that they can guarantee 10 players to attend. We need to find out the arrangements for the bar to see if the bar can be shut between 6.30 – 7.30pm so the room can be sorted out & will be a factor on either the pie supper or buffet arrangement, sticky point will be getting people out by then & back in once opened. Idea of possibly getting the club sponsors, i.e. Frazer Eagle to contribute towards costs or haggle them for donations for raffle prizes & they could even have the award named after them, something to look further into. All OSC members need to sort out categories/voting for ‘player of the year’ at next meeting. Supper needs to be confirmed as Neil has looked into a couple of quotes for either or on buffet or pie supper & DJ’s. This will be a ticketed event for about £5 per ticket, which includes DJ & Supper.
International weekend: With the Norwegian fans that visited the ground recently, & other foreign visiting fans like the Irish fans, the idea for an international supporters weekend is rather than they all come over at different times [especially the 2 sets of Norwegian supporters groups] is that a weekend is organised to get all internationals together & provide a more hospitable welcome. We could mark the occasion by sorting an event on Friday & Saturday night for them. We’ll explore the idea more next season when the fixture list is sorted.
Sligo Rovers: Lesley announced that she is organising a trip to Sligo for a ‘family’ weekend to watch Sligo Play Cork on the 2nd August, as quite a few of former Stanley players have gone to play for Sligo. Granada Tv are interested in filming the trip. She is going to contact Frazer Eagle to see about coach prices & hope for them to be involved. She has suggested an idea that incorporating the price reward for OSC members slightly cheaper & the others slightly more but offset it with next season OSC membership is included in order to increase OSC memberships. She wants to make the trip as reasonably cheap as possible dependant on interest but will look at all the options & give it a few weeks to gain interest as its not just about a footy weekend but a family oriented one too. Will see the interest & how it goes.
Job Vacancies: As announced last month the position of Chair will be vacant at the May AGM. It was suggested last month that we should all propose somebody for the job to give people the confidence to stand. It was decided to leave this for next meeting.
Charity Walk to Rochdale: A reminder that the Ultra’s sponsored walk to Rochdale is on 16th March. The set off is between 7 & 7.30am from the Crown. All are invited to join in but if you wish to just cheer them on then please do so as you drive past them, also please contribute to the bucket collection that will be held.
Any Other Business:
Mel told the meeting about a new personalised merchandise business in operation, her & her partner have set up a printing sideline, specialising in printed t-shirts & gifts. Its mainly ‘Sublimation’ printing which prints directly into the material that’s specially coated, difference is that, it lasts a lot longer & provides a better quality finish. We are mainly doing subliminal printing, men’s/ladies/kids t-shirts, mugs, caps, baby stuff, coasters, mouse mats, BBQ aprons etc etc. Beauty with us is we supply & print to order with no minimum orders needed, so no wastage or storage as we can print to order also based in Accrington. She will be mocking a printed t-shirt as sample based on the Les Cocker campaign & will be wearing it at the next few home matches whilst collecting sigs, should anyone wish to see a sample for themselves. Will obtain a pricelist & catalogue of what we can do, in due course for perusal.
Next Meeting: Monday 14th April 2008
Meeting Closed: 8.35pm |
